Tree Commission
I'm working on a commission that is due on December 15. A photo of the work in progress is above. The man who commissioned the piece saw my work called "Standing Still" and asked me to make something similar in different dimensions to fit his stairwell. You can see the original below. It is one of my 3 works that appears in 500 Art Quilts.
So what do you think of the commission so far? Is my sky too wild and crazy? I went with the mood I was in at the time. I'm ready to stitch!

I like this piece. It has a real feeling of strength. It will be very impressive in your client's stairwell.
ReplyDeleteI love it! And the sky's not wild and crazy at all. It's a great piece. I wish I could think of a clever name for your blog, but can't come up with anything.
ReplyDeleteI think the sky is perfect for the piece! It gives a swirling sense about the tree and intensifies the look of strength that the tree has against the elements.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on selling your SAQA20 piece! Love your new version of the tree. I find it hard to do a piece the second time. You're doing a great job...Suggestion for blog: Quehl Lane
ReplyDeleteHey Betty. That was a mistake. I sold my Transformations: Reflections piece. I don't have a SAQA20 piece.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your comments. I'm going to fix that dark blue curve in the upper right hand side, as it draws my attention from the tree. Then I'll start stitching!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your work.
I LOVE your work! Looking at both trees, first thing I see is that new one is in a bit darker (grayer) colors and almost brings a feeling of storm coming...and tree standing tall to weather it...:)
