Please note there is a line missing in the poem at the end of my last post, "Letting Go". Here is the corrected poem:
"To live in this world
you must be able
to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it
go,
to let it go."
(from "In Blackwater Woods" by Mary Oliver)
I did not check my Google Reader last night so I missed knowing you had lost your precious Johnny until tonight. My heart aches for your loss and I will be thinking of you when Bigboy is snuggling on my lap. I cherish his assistance in sleeping on the fabric I am using, leaving a fine covering of almost invisible cat hair to tickle my nose. God bless you as you remember so many good times with Johnny!

Thank you for your kind words Martha. Give Big Boy an extra hug for me tonight. As I said below, I had a talk with Kissabelle and Mr. McMenace today, and told them they had better start stepping up to the plate! Kissabelle told me that it depends on what I put on her plate, and Mr. McMenace just demanded to go outside! Ah, there will never be another Johnnie, who was most motivated by connection, safety and love!
