Okanagan Sights

I returned Saturday night from 10 days in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada. I had three days vacation before my week of teaching began. While teaching at Cherry Tree Quilts in Summerland, BC, I stayed with Barb Gillespie (the owner). Check out the view of vineyards and Okanagan Lake from the deck of her home! A little like Italy, no?

I spotted lots of quails, and this Quail Crossing (my last name is pronounced quail!).

Quails move fast, and this was about as close as I could get.

I had a lovely visit to the Lavender Farm just outside Kelowna.

Sunflowers in season.

This is the dining room at Nkmip Cellars winery. Unfortunately it was raining a bit the day I hoped to have lunch there so the dining room (which is literally outdoors with a hilltop view) was closed.

I enjoyed viewing and walking among orchards with trees hung heavy with peaches, apples and pears.

I was inspired by a great group of students. Many more posts to come.

  1. You appear to have enjoyed your stay in BC. Your students certainly seem to have the hang of the hosta. Well done all! They must have really enjoyed that!
